The mycelium colonizes the substrate fully with the assistance of rain, humidity, and nutrients during the substrate. This stage is largely the mycelial colony consuming and digesting the nutrients through the entire increasing substrate and spreading its rhizomorphic tentacles—scientifically known as hyphae—more and further in to the substrate
